Reported questions use statement word order, with no inversion and no auxiliary do/did. Yes/no questions use if or whether; wh-questions keep the wh-word: He asked me where I lived. She asked if I was tired.

When we report a question, we do not use question word order. The verb goes after the subject, just like in a normal statement. We also apply the same tense backshift as in reported statements.
